Erasmus+ is a European Commission scheme to provide funding for international opportunities in education and training across the the EU. It supports organisations from the higher education, further education, vocational education and training and schools sectors to offer their students, learners and pupils life-changing experiences to study or work abroad.

Our Erasmus+ mobility work placements are funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union

Currently, placements are available in Porto and Granada. Preferences are taken into account but placement is subject to availability!

There is no age limit to participate in any Turing mobility activity. However, you will need to fulfil the selection criteria for the role you are applying for. In some cases, age limits apply depending on the different types of activities outlined in the role on offer.

Capacity Ireland’s students are able to study abroad for a period of 3 months and it is a requirement that you spend the full period in your destination country. There will be two days of preparatory training online. Attendance at the preparatory training is compulsory.

For your application to be considered we must receive both your CV and fully completed application form (and portfolio if relevant for the position). Selected applicants will then be invited for an interview to assess whether their qualifications, experience, and skills are compatible with the position advertised.

To participate in an Erasmus+ mobility, you must be currently residing within Ireland, have an Irish postal address and bank account, and must have the right to live and work in the EU and the destination country. Applications are not accepted from individuals looking for ‘year in industry’ placements.

There is quite a variety! We offer placements in digital media, marketing, graphic design, architecture, sustainability, and other creative industries.

Yes, having participated in a previous Erasmus program does not prevent you from participating in an Erasmus+ placement with Capacity Ireland.

Placements are limited so the selection process is competitive! We recommend that Applicants apply early, submit a strong application, and be prepared for an interview to discuss their skills and interests

Not necessarily! While most of our placements are in creative industries like digital media, marketing, and architecture, if you're passionate, open to learning, and excited to take on new challenges, you’re welcome to apply regardless of your background.

Most placements follow a standard workweek of 25–35 hours, Monday to Thursday with Fridays reserved for Spanish classes! However, specific hours depend on your host organisation. Some placements may involve weekend shifts, evening hours, or primarily morning work, depending on the needs of your employer. Flexibility is key, and we encourage you to embrace the experience and adapt to different schedules.
Accommodation & Travel

You will be provided with shared* accommodation during your Erasmus+ placement, and this will comprise of your own bedroom with shared living spaces such as kitchen and bathroom. Rooms are typically ready-equipped with a bed, wardrobe, cupboard and desk. Blankets, towels, curtains, cooking utensils and Wi-fi access are also provided.
*Crete participants will not be in shared accommodation

The Erasmus+ funding covers the cost of return flights, travel insurance, and accommodation and bills during the time in the destination country, with students also receiving €140/week for living costs.

During your Erasmus+ placement with Capacity Ireland, you will receive travel insurance for the duration of your stay. If you have an accident whilst abroad and need medical care, we will help you every step of the way to ensure you are taken care of.

Capacity Ireland will inform students about any travel restrictions that may impact students, or their mobilities, in advance of travelling to destination countries.
Language

No, unless it is specified in the job description. The vast majority of our work placements your mentor and coworkers will have a good knowledge of English.

You will be granted access to a free online language course before and during your stay abroad, in order to improve your language competences and help you get well prepared for your mobility abroad. Access to the course includes tutoring, forums, tips from former Erasmus+ students, and more.

At the end of your placement, you will be asked to take a final assessment which will allow you to measure the progress you made during your stay abroad. It will also allow the European Commission to know to which extent participation in Erasmus+ has an impact on students' language skills.

Like everywhere, Spain and Portugal have their own unique cultural norms. From late dinners and afternoon restaurant/café closures to a more relaxed approach to time, both countries have their own rhythms. We encourage you to embrace these differences during your three months abroad, to be open to learning, respect local customs, and understand that adapting to a new culture is part of the experience. It’s all about immersing yourself, appreciating the local way of life, and making the most of your time in Granada or Porto!
